What Is SCAN?
Supplier Compliance Audit Network
SCAN (Supplier Compliance Audit Network) is a trade association that provides a systematic approach to security requirements, reducing the need for multiple security audits. SCAN members, including US-based retail stores and brands, can search for and share audit reports through the SCAN repository. If a supplier is not found in the system, a new audit can be requested.
SCAN audit requirements are based on C-TPAT fundamentals with additional elements, and the report is accepted by SCAN members. SCAN aims to maximize cargo security through cooperation with supply chain stakeholders, including importers, carriers, consolidators, customs brokers, and manufacturers. Before SCAN, US-based retail stores had their own security standards based on C-TPAT, but now they accept SCAN audit reports. Suppliers cannot initiate a SCAN audit without a request from a SCAN member. By implementing SCAN requirements, organizations can improve their security compliance, assure customer confidence and satisfaction, and meet customer expectations.
